Hermitage is certainly one of the museums, I want to see.

Danae, Titian

This fine painting is one of five by the artist on this subject from Greek mythology. According to myth, Danae was the daughter of the King of Argos, Acrisius. The Oracle predicted that Acrisius would be killed by his daughter's son, so he shut Danae up in a bronze tower, but Zeus, charmed by her beauty, entered the tower in the form of a golden shower and seduced her. Titian endowed the mythological heroine with the features of contemporary Venetian ladies. Her graceful nude body, vividly depicted, contrasts with that of the aged serving woman. Combining warm brown, golden, and pink colours with cool gray and blue tones, Titian manages to create an atmosphere of intimate warmth, sexuality, and joie de vivre.

Yes, i have written the title in German though the language of this blog is English.
I couldn't resist the temptation to write
something in a familiar language.
Isn't it interesting that they have an exhibition at the moment about Antwerp and 17th century.

 I didn t like the audi logo in the homepage of the museum, it reminds me of cars:-) And the homepage could be more friendly. But I am afraid it is the 'new' mentality in Germany. But these are not our problems, it is an important museum.

Rubens in Antwerp

The works here are not from this house. But the work with the Maria
Is for me Rubens. And I don t like him really. No time to write about it, but
I would like to see his house.
